What to do in Agios Sostis
Agios Sostis has a handful of lovely Tavernas, some situated on the sandy beachfront and offering a great selection of Greek dishes and freshly caught fish. The prices are quite reasonable and the waiter service is excellent and very welcoming. Once you find your favourite Taverna in Agios Sostis you will return night after night.
You can relax on the beach during the day, with a narrow strip of wonderful sandy beach shelving into the clear blue waters. If you fancy a boat trip you can spend a few euros and hire a boat the the uninhabited island of Marathonisi. You can choose to be dropped off for the day by your boat captain or join more organised excursions who will leave you to relax on the island all day then pick you up in the evening.
The island of Marathonisi is where the Caretta Caretta turtles lay their eggs year after year and parts of the island are protected so make sure you check with the boat hire company before you venture onto parts of the island. Although this is a Turtle nesting area you will find a small selection of watersports available on the beach, as well as and canoes and pedaloes that you can hire from one hour to all day.

Agios Sostis -
Agios Sostis is situated between Laganas and Keri and the sandy beach is named after the small island that you can see from the coast. Up until a few centuries ago it was connected to the Zakynthos, but was separated from it in the 1633 earthquake.
The village itself is named after the church of Saint Sostis that stood here in the 16th century. The church is now gone, but many small churches still remain and can be accessed at certain times.
The village of Agios Sostis is flat but has the attractive backdrop of mountains in the distance. The area is surrounded by pine trees and lush scenery. The beach of Agios Sostis is lovely, sandy with clear waters with hidden coves and rugged cliffs to explore, giving the tourists who flocked into the place via cheap flights plenty of things to do. The beach itself isnt very big but is well catered for with sun loungers and umbrellas.
Opposite the beach lies the small uninhabited island called Marathonisi which sits in the bay of Laganas. Marathonisi is fondly nicknamed turtle island as its shape resembles a turtle and it is also popular with the Loggerhead turtles to nest their eggs on.
If your looking for a quiet relaxing family holiday or just a romantic getaway for you and your partner then this is one of the most popular choices on the island of Zante.
